It was kind of laughable that Quentin Tarantino was on “American Idol,” as a mentor last night and from Vulture’s report it seemed wholly unnecessary, however, there was one happy bi-product of the show: more footage and an extended trailer from, his upcoming WWII film, “Inglourious Basterds.” The new sneak peek also gives us a first look at Mike Myers as the British character Gen. Ed Fenech.
But is this more Tarantino B-movie adoration or his next masterpiece? From the footage here, it’s too close to call. Brad Pitt still seems like he’s over-doing it and there’s still many shades of over-the-top camp all around. Judge for yourself though.
“Inglourious Basterds” is due in theaters on August 21, 2009 and is expected to play the Cannes Film Festival in May. [Film School Rejects]
