Former ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Star Taylor Sheridan Sells Spec Script ‘Comancheria’; Peter Berg Eyeing As Directorial Vehicle

nullWhat's in the water over at FX's biker-drama "Sons Of Anarchy"? First, star Charlie Hunnam sells a spec script based on Vlad The Impaler — which, last we heard, was being rewritten by James Gray for Anthony Mandler to direct — and now former co-star Taylor Sheridan (who played anatagonist Deputy Chief David Hale) has sold his own spec script, a Texan-set actioner "Comancheria."

The script has been acquired by Sidney Kimmel Entertainment who will finance and produce with Film44 with the latter shingle's head Peter Berg eyeing the project as a directorial vehicle. The story sounds like quite the ride centering on "two brothers, one an ex-con and the other a divorced father of two kids, who face the foreclosure of their family’s West Texas farm. They team for a skillfully-calculated bank robbing spree that puts them on a collision course with two Texas Rangers determined to take them down."

Berg has the Navy SEAL drama "Lone Survivor" with Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch and Ben Foster in the works and may follow it up with "Comancheria" unless they decide to move it into production sooner — in which case, Berg will have a say in who takes helm anyway. With no problems attracting talent, a simple actioner like this with strong leads might actually do Berg a world of good. [Deadline]
