‘Black’ hails from Booker Prize award-winning author Marlon James, who created the project and serves as executive producer. The acclaimed author reflected on its importance after major cast and directing announcements. “This is the first major international TV show to put my home country, Jamaica, center stage, so it’s beyond awesome to have actual world-class Jamaican talent both in front and behind the camera, with our star Tamara Lawrance and Ddrector Tanya Hamilton.”

Tamara Lawrance stars as the title character. The actress has appeared in several prominent series, including the recent BBC adaptation of “Mr. Loverman.” She’s additionally set to appear in the upcoming Nadia Latif film “The Man in My Basement.” “Get Millie Black” sees Lawrence star alongside Joe Dempsie, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr, and Chyna McQueen.

Ex-Scotland Yard detective Millie-Jean Black returns to Kingston to work missing persons cases, soon finding herself on a quest to save a sibling who won’t be saved, to find a child who can’t be found, to solve a case that will blow her world apart and prove almost as tough to crack as Millie Black.
