'In Front of Your Face': Watch The First Trailer & 3 Clips From Hong Sang-soo’s Cannes Selection

When we talk about fast, prolific filmmakers that are able to get a film made in a short amount of time and never sit around and let years go by without a new feature, we often talk about Steven Soderbergh, for example. However, you could argue that no one is as prolific or as fast as filmmaker Hong Sang-soo. Just since 2011, he’s written and directed a total of 15 feature films, including his upcoming Cannes selection, “In Front of Your Face.”

With the premiere of “In Front of Your Face” happening soon at the Cannes Film Festival, we now have some clips and a trailer from the new film that are made available. And as you might expect from a trailer for a Hong Sang-soo film, the clip is entirely focused on a conversation between a woman and a young girl, letting the entire interaction play out before cutting to the woman leaving the home. It doesn’t tell you a lot about the film, which is said to be about a woman that is visiting her sister and growing re-accustomed to life in South Korea.

“In Front of Your Face” marks the 26th feature film from Hong Sang-soo and the second film of his to premiere in 2021, after “Introductiondebuted at this year’s Berlin Film Festival. If you’re familiar with Hong’s previous works, you know the filmmaker’s features typically are low-budget affairs that dig deep into the human condition through dialogue between characters and very little in terms of big set pieces or stylistic flare. Hong Sang-soo loves to just let the characters speak for themselves, often in stories that are steeped in realism.
