Jack Bauer Is Back For 12 Episode '24: Live Another Day' Coming In 2014

nullAfter a protracted period trying to get a movie off the ground, only for it to stall and falter for a variety of reason, Fox has finally found a way to revive “24,” and sometimes the best solution is also the easiest one: they’re bringing it back to TV. That’s right, after rumors started burbling late last week that Jack Bauer might be returning to kick ass once again, today the studio has confirmed that more white knuckle thrills are in the cards.

Entitled “24: Live Another Day” (fitting), the 12-episode series will unfold in the show’s well known “real time” format, spanning another single (tiring) day in the life of Jack Bauer (and yes, Kiefer Sutherland will return). And, if you do the math, you’ll see that 12 doesn’t equal 24, but instead of 2 hour episodes, producers and writers will be doing some slight time jumping in the narrative this time around. “Now we’ll get the best part,” Fox chairman Kevin Reilly said.

Of course, plot details are not yet known, but it will apparently take place “several years following the events of the final season,” but don’t expect this to mean a full blown return for “24.” This is all part of Fox’s “event series” push of limited run programming, which means this is a one-off. For now. While they don’t rule out further installments of “24,” they say not to expect a new batch of episodes every year. However, for fans of the series, this is some welcome news.
