Jack O'Connell To Star In Scott Frank's Netflix Western Series 'Godless'

Rising star Jack O’Connell has snagged a role in the six-hour show. Penned by Frank, with his longtime bud Steven Soderbergh (who he once really wanted to direct the movie version, many eons ago) on board as executive producer, the show will follow Frank Griffin, an outlaw blazing a ruthless trail across the West, hunting down his frenemy Roy Goode, only to stumble into a town run entirely by women.

It’s a strong premise, and O’Connell gets the casting off to great start. The actor is on the rise, impressing in “Starred Up” and “ ’71,” and while his Hollywood jaunts haven’t been so hot (“Unbroken,” “300: Rise Of An Empire“), we’ve got some high expectations for “Godless.” Production begins this summer, which probably means you’ll see it on Netflix next year.
