With the next entry in "The Amazing Spider-Man" series not due until 2018, Sony is taking their time to lick their wounds and figure out how to right a ship that has gone very, very wrong. The fans have been largely displeased with the direction the franchise has taken, and the studio has managed to botch what should be a slam dunk, no brainer success. One key creative is opening up about some of the problems the beleaguered series faced, and it seems there were problems from day one.
Composer James Horner recently did an interview with fan site James Horner Film Music and didn’t hold back about his experience of jumping into the Marc Webb-directed first film, and why he decided not to return for a second round. It’s not pretty.
And few would disagree with that assessment of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." While the death of Gwen Stacy is one of the great Spider-Man storylines, it couldn’t have been handled more clumsily than it was in ‘Spider-Man 2,’ a decision that seemed to have been made mostly to speed up the run to "Sinister Six." But instead, it set back the franchise even further, and whether or not it can rebound will likely be much of the conversation that Horner’s comments will stir up. [via Den Of Geek]
