Got a Tip?

Jennifer Lawrence Reteams With Susanne Bier And Will Follow ‘The Rules Of Inheritance’

nullWhile we continue to patiently wait for whatever Jennifer Lawrence and director Susanne Bier cooked up with the Depression-era drama “Serena” (along with Bradley Cooper), it looks like the experience was a very, very good one for the actress and director, as they are planning to pair up again.

Lawrence will produce and star in an adaptation of Claire Bidwell Smith‘s memoir “The Rules Of Inheritance,” with Bier slated to direct, from a script by Abi Morgan (“Shame,” “The Iron Lady“). If as Variety suggests, Lawrence wanted “a little more creative control on the projects she is involved in,” well, she’s exercising those powers with some smart choices. As for the movie, it will tell the very true story of one young girl’s rough and tumble coming-of-age after both her parents are diagnosed with cancer. Here’s the Amazon synopsis:

In this astonishing debut, Claire Bidwell Smith, an only child, is just fourteen years old when both of her charismatic parents are diagnosed with cancer. What follows is a coming-of-age story that is both heartbreaking and exhilarating. As Claire hurtles towards loss she throws herself at anything she thinks might help her cope with the weight of this harsh reality: boys, alcohol, traveling, and the anonymity of cities like New York and Los Angeles. By the time she is twenty-five years old they are both gone and Claire is very much alone in the world.
Claire’s story is less of a tragic tale and more of a remarkable lesson on how to overcome some of life’s greatest hardships. Written with suspense and style, and bursting with love and adventure, The Rules of Inheritance vividly captures the deep grief and surprising light of a young woman forging ahead on a journey of loss that humbled, strengthened, and ultimately healed her.
No word yet on when exactly this might lens, but with “X-Men: Days Of Future Past” currently shooting, her calendar has a bit of space afterward (besides promotional duties for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and “American Hustle“) so perhaps she could pivot toward this one.
