Laura Dern, Sam Neill & Jeff Goldblum Are Officially Coming Back For 'Jurassic World 3'

One of the worst-kept secrets in Hollywood has been officially revealed — your favorite characters from the first “Jurassic Park” film are coming back for the upcoming “Jurassic World 3.” I’ll allow you a moment to feign shock and surprise.

According to Deadline, actors Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill are confirmed to be joining Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the upcoming third entry in the “Jurassic World” franchise. The actors will reprise their roles as Dr. Ellie Sattler, Dr. Ian Malcolm, and Dr. Alan Grant, respectively, in what is expected to be the final entry in the “Jurassic World” franchise. That is until they decide to make brand-new ‘Jurassic’ franchise, considering this new iteration is a billion-dollar-grossing megahit.

For months, it’s been assumed that the three “Jurassic Park” actors would be returning. Rumors of their involvement date back to over a year ago, when ‘Fallen Kingdom’ debuted in theaters. That film featured the return of Goldblum’s character with filmmaker Colin Trevorrow, who is co-writing and directing the third film, expressing his interest in having all three of the original main characters coming back one more time. You know, because franchises nowadays can’t end unless you bring back every character you can and have one final, major, emotional showdown.

Production on the untitled “Jurassic World 3” isn’t expected to begin until next year, so we really don’t know how or why the three characters will return. Hopefully, Trevorrow has a more compelling reason to include them than what was thought up for ‘Fallen Kingdom,’ when Dr. Malcolm was teased as being part of the film and then showed up in what is just a glorified cameo. If you’re going to bring these folks back, make it worth it!

What we do know is that the “Jurassic World” that was teased at the end of the second film, with the dinosaurs rampaging across the globe isn’t actually going to be the focus of the new film. Trevorrow has confirmed that the sequel won’t include dinos terrorizing cities. Instead, he has said that the treatment of the large animals in this new world will be similar to how we treat wild animals now.

“We hunt animals, we traffic them, we herd them, we breed them, we invade their territory and pay the price, but we don’t go to war with them. If that was the case, we’d have lost that war a long time ago,” he said.

The only question that really matters at this point is if we’ll finally get to see the ridiculous dino-human hybrids that have been rumored for years? I mean, we’re not talking Shakespeare here, so why not?
