‘Crystal Lake’ Trailer: Linda Cardellini Becomes Pamela Voorhees In Peacock’s ‘Friday The 13th’ Prequel Series

The “Friday the 13th” prequel series explores Pamela Voorhees’ grief and the events that begin to haunt Crystal Lake.

How much do you really know about Pamela Voorhees? The homicidal matriarch became a horror icon with the release of 1980’s “Friday the 13th,” but Peacock and A24 are now offering a new look at the woman behind the legend with “Crystal Lake.” Set nearly a year after the death of her son Jason, the series finds Pamela still consumed by grief when two strangers begin digging into her past, setting off a disturbing chain of events across the town. The project comes from creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer Brad Caleb Kane, with Michael Lennox, Celine Held, Logan George, and Quyen Tran directing.

Linda Cardellini takes on the role of Pamela Voorhees, following in the footsteps of Betsy Palmer’s legendary portrayal. Cardellini became a fan favorite playing Velma in 2002’s live-action “Scooby-Doo” and its sequel, “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.” Other “Crystal Lake” series regulars include William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Callum Vinson, Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, and Phoenix Parnevik will recur.

The series’ official synopsis:

“A prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise, the series follows single mother Pam Voorhees, who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door, digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?”
