‘Lift’ Trailer: Kevin Hart, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D’Onofrio & More Star In F. Gary Gray’s New Heist Film

The New Year lifts off on January 12 when Kevin Hart and his crew plan a heist like no other— at 40,000 ft. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray, a consistent filmmaker known for “Friday,” “The Italian Job,” and “Be Cool,” but still completely relevant with modern hits like “Straight Outta Compton,” “The Fate of the Furious,” and “Men in Black: International” (the recent MCU Reign of Marvel book also reminds that Gray was up for “Captain America: The Winter Solider” at one point). And a heist film like “Lift” looks like it’s totally up his alley.

The logline of this one is pretty simple: An international heist crew, led by Cyrus Whitaker (Kevin Hart), races to lift $500 million in gold from a passenger plane at 40,000 feet.

On top of Hart, the film also co-stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D’Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Billy Magnussen, Jacob Batalon, Jean Reno, and Sam Worthington. The film also features additional appearances by Viveik Kalra, Yun Jee Kim, Burn Gorman, and Paul Anderson.

Netflix is releasing “Lift” on January 12, 2024. Watch the new trailer below.
