Mark Ruffalo Speaks Out On Spider-Man Staying In The MCU

One of the sad parts about the MCU is that we didn’t get nearly enough scenes between Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. The characters barely shared the screen despite having a lot in common, depriving audiences of some fun banter. While Ruffalo’s future with Marvel is still unclear, we know that Spider-Man will definitely remain with the rest of the MCU for the foreseeable future, and Ruffalo is understandably excited about it.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Ruffalo addressed the new deal that will allow Spider-Man to stay in the same universe as the Avengers, including Hulk: “I think it’s amazing. He’s a great guy, he’s a great actor, and yeah. I had a good feeling that they would work it out,” Ruffalo explained. “It’s good for them, and I was sad that it would even… I just can’t even imagine, after what we’ve all done together, like, how you would separate them.”

In case you didn’t hear about the big non-Scorsese-related Marvel drama, the deal that allowed Sony and Marvel to keep making Spider-Man movies together expired, and for nearly a month some fans agonized as their beloved hero was going to be forced to only make movies with Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius. Of course, barely a month later, the big corporations got a deal that would give them both tons of money and fans rejoiced thinking that their corporate overlords cared about pleasing them more than they cared about money.

We don’t know exactly what Hulk’s or Spider-Man’s future will be within the MCU, but last we saw them both characters had undergone some big challenges, or were about to face them. In “Avengers: Endgame” we saw Bruce Banner finally merge together with Hulk, gaining the strength of the green behemoth and the brains of his human counterpart. Meanwhile, Spider-Man had his life turned upside-down as he saw his identity revealed to the world by none other than J. Jonah Jameson in “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” Let’s just hope they two of them get at least some sort of interaction together at some point.
