Got a Tip?

Anthony Ramos Says ‘Black Panther’ Director Ryan Coogler Is Part Of ‘Ironheart’ Creative Team

Marvel Studios has been developing a multitude of projects to give audiences a young stable of superhero characters. From Kate Bishop in the “Hawkeye” series to the upcoming “Ms. Marvel” show featuring. Kamala Khan, a Carol Danvers-obsessed Pakistani-American teenager, the company is definitely looking towards a younger generation of heroes. Another one on the horizon is Riri Williams, a brilliant young woman that builds her own armor suit and becomes known as “Ironheart,” and is getting her own Disney+ series in the very near future.

This, we basically all know, but just recently, an interesting addition to the creative team on the show has been revealed.

Recent casting addition Anthony Ramos (“In The Heights”) attended the Oscars ceremony on Sunday and revealed to Extra (see below) during the Vanity Fair party that director Ryan Coogler (“Black Panther”) is part of the show’s creative team, something that hasn’t been public knowledge up until now.

“It’s incredible people, Chinaka Hodge, Ryan Coogler, and just, like, a dope squad…you know, Dominique Thorne and I just feel blessed and grateful,” Ramos told Extra over the weekend.

This news shouldn’t surprise people given that Thorne’s Riri Williams will first be introduced to audiences in Coogler’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as previously revealed by set photos. Coogler is also behind an untitled Disney+ series that is expected to focus on Wakanda’s female warriors, the Dora Milaje, and feature Danai Gurira’s Okoye.

We’ll be certainly excited to see if Coogler decides to direct episodes of either project. There is an expectation that Marvel could be making some lineup announcements at the D23 Expo later in the year and Kevin Feige revealing more details about “Ironheart” characters/villains.

“Ironheart” hasn’t been given a release date as the Disney+ shows don’t exactly air in the order they were shot, but the tech-based superhero streaming series likely won’t be ready until 2023-2024. This gives us an idea of how long we’ll have to wait for the project.
