'Masters Of The Universe': Alison Brie Will Play Villain Evil-Lyn In Amazon MGM's Upcoming Blockbuster

Amazon MGM Studios‘ “Masters Of The Universe” film has found one of its villains. Deadline reports that Alison Brie will star in the live-action take on the hit ’80s title as sorceress Evil-Lyn, one of arch-bad guy Skeletor’s most trusted allies. Brie joins previously announced cast members Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes in the picture, which hits theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.

Plot details remain under wraps for “Masters Of The Universe,” but Galitzine stars as Prince Adam aka He-Man, who must recover his lost magical Power Sword to defend his home planet Eternia against Skeletor. Mendes will play Teela, a warrior and Captain of Eternia’s Royal Guard, while Brie’s Evil-Lyn will be part of Skeletor’s evil plot, at least to start. Fans of the original series will remember that Evil-Lyn’s loyalty tends to be fickle, depending on the battle. So will she side with in the live-action film?

As noted earlier, “Masters Of The Universe” will be on of Amazon MGM’s summer tentpoles in 2026.  Travis Knight directs the blockbuster, and Chris Butler pens a script based on previous drafts by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee.  The film was originally in development at Sony and Netflix before Amazon MGM took over.  Mattel Films and Escape Artists co-produce the project.

With Evil-Lyn, Brie branches out into arguably the biggest production she’s ever been a part of. The actress’ breakout came on the NBC cult series “Community,” with the Netflix womens’ wrestling series “GLOW” catapulting her even higher. Since then, she’s also starred in “The Rental” and “Somebody I Used To Know” (both directed by her husband, Dave Franco), “Happiest Season,” “Horse Girl,” and “Spin Me Round.” Other recent work includes Peacock‘s crime series “Apple Never Fall.” Up next for Brie beyond “Masters Of The Universe”? Another horror pic with her husband, “Together,” and “Community: The Movie.”

Stay tuned for more news about “Masters Of The Universe,” which still needs an actor to play Skeletor. And without the original show’s main villain, what use is a “Masters Of The Universe” live-action reboot anyway?
