There’s no need to reiterate Michael Fassbender‘s immense talent, but it speaks to the demand for his skills that the actor will feature in two blockbusters this year —”X-Men: Apocalypse” and “Assassin’s Creed“— is currently filming another (“Alien: Covenant“), has wrapped the crime thriller “The Snowman,” and also has the Disney drama “The Light Between Oceans” on deck. He can do it all, so taking the role of a serial killer… why not?
Fassbender is in talks to star in “Entering Hades.” Alexander Dinelaris (co-writer of “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)“) is currently doing a rewrite on the script for the film, which is based on the book by John Leake regarding the true story of Austrian journalist and author Jack Unterweger, who investigated various murder but also just happened to be a serial killer himself. They say write what you know, but clearly, he took things a little bit too far.
It’s all fairly early going on this project, with no director yet attached, but with sales heading up at Cannes, those involved are confident that Fassbender playing a serial killer is enough to spark interest from buyers. And I can’t say that I blame them. [Variety]
