Slowly, but surely it seems as though the entire cast of “Black Panther” is making their way to the Dolby Theater for the 91st Academy Awards. Angela Bassett and Chadwick Boseman were previously announced as Oscar presenters and now you can add Michael B. Jordan and Danai Gurira into the mix. The “Creed” and “Walking Dead” stars were part of a new crop of stars unveiled by the Academy as the big night is just five days away.
Joining Jordan are “Eighth Grade’s” Elsie Fisher, “If Beale Street Could Talk’s” Brian Tyree Henry, 2015 nominee Michael Keaton, 2007 Oscar winner Helen Mirren, two-time Spirits Awards host John Mulaney, “Vice” star Tyler Perry, two-time nominee Pharrell Williams, Not “Jessica Jones” for long Krysten Ritter, “Ant-Man” himself Paul Rudd and the iconic Michelle Yeoh.
Previously announced presenters include Awkwafina, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Tina Fey, Allison Janney, Brie Larson, Jennifer Lopez, Frances McDormand, Gary Oldman, Amy Poehler, Sam Rockwell, Maya Rudolph, Amandla Stenberg, Charlize Theron, Tessa Thompson and Constance Wu. As well as Javier Bardem, Emilia Clarke, Laura Dern, Samuel L. Jackson, Stephan James, Keegan-Michael Key, KiKi Layne, James McAvoy, Melissa McCarthy, Jason Momoa and Sarah Paulson.
It’s also been revealed that Serena Williams and Kacey Musgraves will present.
Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Hudson, Bette Midler, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings will perform the Best Original Song nominees. Still no word on who if anyone is performing “All the Stars.”
Barring some last minute surprises, you could argue there is some genuine star power missing from this year’s crop of presenters, at least.
The 91st Academy Awards will take place this Sunday, Feb. 24 and air live on ABC beginning at 5 PM PT, 8 PM ET.
