For someone that hasn’t had a Marvel Studios project of his see release yet, Michael Waldron finds himself at the center of a lot of the questions surrounding Phase 4. This comes from the fact that the writer-creator of “Loki” is also a credited writer on “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and is said to be working on Season 2 of “Loki” already. So, naturally, when speaking to Waldron, the questions about the future of the MCU and how “Loki” might be the beginning of something major are bound to come up.
In a new interview with Total Film (via GamesRadar), Michael Waldron is asked how his upcoming Disney+ series, “Loki,” might connect to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe and to “Doctor Strange 2,” in particular. While the writer is clearly media-trained by Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios to do nothing more than provide vague teases, it does seem as if his two projects will connect in “wide-reaching” ways.
“That would just be crazy conjecture,” said Waldron about whether or not “Loki” and ‘Multiverse of Madness’ connect. “All of these stories, in their own way, are interconnected and have ramifications. I think that certainly, our aim with the ‘Loki’ series was for it to have wide-reaching ramifications across the MCU moving forward. So, you know, was I having to clean up some of the messes that I made [with ‘Loki’]? Maybe so.”

Unlike something such as “WandaVision,” it’s way more obvious how “Loki” will impact the greater MCU. The series finds the title character, aka the God of Mischief, working with the Time Variance Authority (TVA), as they need him to fix the fabric of space and time after he abused it with the use of the Tesseract at the end of “Avengers: Endgame.” Folks at Marvel Studios have already teased how the series will play with multiple timelines and realities, offering new/different looks at familiar characters. So, it doesn’t take a lot of connecting the dots to see how “Loki” could impact various other characters and franchises.
Of course, we won’t know for certain how all of this plays out until we start watching “Loki,” which debuts on Disney+ on June 8.
