Are you sick of talking about “Parasite” yet? If you, like myself, have a bunch of friends that don’t follow international film closely at all (the heathens), then after the surprise Best Picture win at the Oscars, you probably were inundated with conversations from folks asking, “Is that ‘Parasite’ film actually that good?” Hopefully, you answered by escorting them to the local theater to watch for themselves. If you, or someone you know, haven’t had the chance to see the film yet, then NEON is ready to offer the best possible chance yet—in IMAX.
According to Deadline, in honor of the film winning all those Oscars and with the hope that it can surpass $50 million at the domestic box office, NEON is releasing Bong Joon Ho’s film, “Parasite,” in almost 1,000 IMAX screens this weekend. That means not only will casual moviegoers get the chance to check the film out on a massive screen, but those of us who have already seen it will also be enticed to witness Bong’s masterful imagery in the best possible situation we can imagine.
As mentioned, this is all part of NEON’s attempt to capitalize on the Oscar publicity bump that “Parasite” has received in the days after the award ceremony. Last weekend, the first since the Oscars, saw Bong’s film have its best box office weekend domestically, earning $6.6 million. Through Tuesday, the film has earned a domestic total of $45 million, putting it ever so close to $50 million and a shot at becoming one of the top 3 foreign-language films of all time in the US.
Basically, if you want to continue to show your support for Bong’s film and help it cross that $50 million mark, there’s no better time than now, as “Parasite” is about to land in IMAX. You know it’s worth a second, third, or fourth look on the biggest screen.
