Patty Jenkins And Chris Pine Tackle The Black Dahlia Killer In New Trailer For TNT Series 'I Am The Night'

Fans of Chris Pine’s collaboration with filmmaker Patty Jenkins in last year’s “Wonder Woman” won’t have to wait until the sequel to see the duo team up again. Pine is set to star in a new six-episode limited series on TNT, titled “I Am The Night,” and he’s joined by Jenkins, who acts as director and executive producer. And now we have the first trailer for the series that’s set to premiere in January.

The trailer introduces us to Fauna Hodel, played by India Eisley, who is a woman that discovers she’s adopted and goes on a journey to investigate her past. Along the way, her path crosses with a suspect in the infamous “Black Dahlia” murder in Los Angeles. Pine plays Jay Singletary, a reporter who is desperately trying to break open the Dahlia case and discovers that Fauna might have some information.

As you can see in the trailer, the series is definitely going for the Old Hollywood look, but also with a tinge of horror/thriller, complete with a jump scare. This is a far cry from the more light-hearted and mythological “Wonder Woman,” but nevertheless, the combination of Pine and Jenkins is worthy of giving this series a look.

“I Am The Night” is set to premiere on TNT in January 2019.

Here’s the synopsis:

The story of Fauna Hodel, who was given away by her teenage birth mother to a black restroom attendant in a Nevada casino in 1949. As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets to her past, she follows a sinister trail that swirls ever closer to an infamous Hollywood gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel, a man involved in the darkest Hollywood debauchery and a suspect in the infamous “Black Dahlia” murder of Elizabeth Short in Los Angeles in 1947.
