Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Jude Law, Emma Mackey & Owen Wilson Tapped For New Nancy Meyers Movie Coming Out Christmas 2027

The Queen of the rom-com is back! Nancy Meyers‘ untitled next feature is finally moving forward at Warner Bros. with an aim to be released on December 25, 2027, as they’ve enlisted quite the compelling group of acting talent. Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Jude Law, Emma Mackey, and Owen Wilson have joined the feature project, according to a new casting report hailing from The Hollywood Reporter.

Meyers’ notable film credits include “Something’s Gotta Give” and “The Holiday,” alongside the WB-released Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro workplace dramedy “The Intern.” We don’t know for sure if this will be another romantic comedy or comedy adjacent, but given the filmmaker’s track record, it is a good bet to make.

While Cruz and Wilson had been involved in the project previously, but once had Michael Fassbender (“Black Bag”) and Scarlett Johansson (“Marriage Story”) circling parts, but ultimately won’t be in the project that was once being referred to as “Paris Paramount” (unclear if that title till stick or was just a placeholder/production title).

In the report, the outlet mentions that the project was once “centered on a young writer-director who falls in love with a producer. The pair made several successful films before breaking up, both romantically and professionally. They are forced back together when a new, great project arises, and they find themselves having to deal with high stakes and volatile stars. It was semi-autobiographical.”

Although that logline could be accurate for this untitled film, they’re unaware whether that original premise is still locked in or has changed over the years. Development and delays may have seen changes to the script and story; creative pivots are not uncommon.

It had landed at Netflix, but reportedly talks broke down over the film’s massive budget, said to be in the $150 million range (wowzers), while the streamer was willing to spend $130 million (still a steep ask for the genre and would likely be the most expensive film Meyers would have made). However, it is unclear in the reporting how much Warner Bros. has budgeted for this iteration.
