Update: according to a press release we just received, “I Love You, Man” will be the 2009 Opening Night film of the SXSW Film Festival.
Access Hollywood got the exclusive look at Paul Rudd/Jason Segel 2009 comedy, “I Love You, Man,” coming out via Dreamworks/Paramount and co-starring the very lovely, Rashida Jones and Trailer Addict has nabbed it from the tele.
Here’s the synopsis:
“I Love You, Man” follows Peter Klaven (Rudd), a successful real estate agent who, upon getting engaged to the woman of his dreams, Zooey, (Jones), discovers that he has no male friend close enough to serve as his Best Man, so he embarks on a series of bizarre and awkward “man-dates,” before meeting Sydney Fife (Segel). But the closer the two men get, the more Peter’s relationship with Zooey suffers, ultimately forcing him to choose between his fiancée and his newfound “bro,” in a story that comically explores what it truly means to be a “friend.”
The film also stars Jaime Pressly, Jon Favreau, Andy Samberg, JK Simmons and is due in theaters wide, March 20, 2009. Yes, it does have the Billy Bush, Access Hollywood jackass talking over it, but it will tide us over for now. We kinda can’t wait for this because we love the Rudd and Segel, “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” probably being the best Judd Apatow movie of 2008, yes, we said, “Pineapple Express” be damned. Oh, the Canadian prog rock trio Rush appear in this film too. That should be fun. There was a screening in New York earlier this month, we think we had a friend in attendance. We have to check in and do some research. Rudd and Segel discussed the plot on Entertainment Tonight earlier this year. Watch for the loathesome word, “bromance” to be overused come marketing time for this one.
