Wait, we thought the the Steven Soderbergh directed “Ocean”s franchise was dead and done regardless of who in the cast was alive or dead? Hmm, well, MTV caught up with Soderbergh and asked him what the chances of were a fourth film in the “Oceans” series. If there was little to none before consider it zero ever since Bernie Mac passed away earlier this year.
“With Bernie Mac being gone, I don’t think any of us would want to return to that,” he said, but here it is, Soderbergh said he was finished with the franchise as it was.
“I was done [anyway],” Soderbergh confessed, noting his chance to experiment in mainstream films. “I got to play on those movies visually in a way that I don’t normally.” Personally, we’re glad, the films were fun and all, but they got played out pretty quickly. We’d rather see more “The Limey,” “Traffic” and “Che” before we see his lighter fare, but we do understand a filmmaker has to come up for air once in a while. Perhaps that’s what “Cleopatra” with the music of Guided By Voices is all about.
