Ralph Fiennes & Harris Dickinson To Star In 'Kingsman' Prequel Hitting Theaters In 2019

The other day, we reported that Matthew Vaughn was returning to the ‘Kingsman’ franchise for a third outing. Not only that, but the film, which is still untitled, is going to be released just over a year from now in November 2019. However, at the time, we assumed that the third film would be a continuation of the Taron Egerton/Colin Firth storyline that has dominated the first two films. According to a new report, we were very wrong.

The Daily Mail reports that the upcoming third ‘Kingsman’ film will actually be a prequel set during World War I. Not only that but Vaughn is already lining up actors, with Ralph Fiennes expected to star opposite Harris Dickinson in the film. One would assume the two actors would share a similar relationship to the Firth/Egerton combo.

Details are scarce, but the idea of a prequel for the franchise isn’t new. A few months back, it was revealed that Vaughn was interested in a couple new ‘Kingsman’ films and a TV spin-off. One of the films would be the natural continuation of the current story, while the other was a prequel. As mentioned, we assumed the sequel would come before the prequel, but that doesn’t seem to be the case at all.

Fiennes is an incredible actor that is probably best known for his work in “Schindler’s List,” “The English Patient,” and recently in “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” But let’s be honest, he’s been in dozens of incredible films, including appearances in the ‘Bond’ franchise. So, he has some serious super spy experience.

Dickinson, on the other hand, is a relative newcomer. His most recent roles in “The Darkest Minds” and the FX series from Danny Boyle, “Trust,” are his two biggest roles to date. He’ll soon be seen in the massive blockbuster “Maleficent 2.”

The untitled ‘Kingsman’ prequel is written and directed by Matthew Vaughn and will hit theaters on November 8, 2019.
