Matthew Vaughn Signed To Write/Direct 'Kingsman 3' & Take Over Former 'Bond 25' Release Date

There’s little hope for a “Dredd 2,” “Galaxy Quest 2,” or the “Edge of Tomorrow” sequel anytime soon. But yet, Fox is still going to pump out a third “Kingsman.” Filmmaker Matthew Vaughn threatened the possibility of a threequel a while ago (combined with a potential TV series and prequel film), but now it appears that “Kingsman 3” is officially official.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “Kingsman 3” will hit theaters in November 2019. And as expected Vaughn will return to write and helm the film, as he did for the first two films in the franchise. For those that don’t know what the raunchy spy franchise is, then long story short, it’s “Dirty James Bond.” The series follows Eggsy (yep, that’s what he’s called) as he joins the uber-elite British spy service called the Kingsman. These dapper badasses murder everything in sight and normally throw out plenty of R-rated language to go around. The sequel introduced the Statesman, the US version of the group, complete with cowboy hats and country accents.

The first film, “Kingsman: The Secret Service” was a surprise hit in 2014, launching the career of Taron Egerton and proving the Colin Firth can do action. The sequel, last year’s “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” was less successful, both critically and commercially. However, it appears that Fox is ready to pull the trigger with haste for the third film.

No word on a title yet, or a plot. However, Vaughn had previously told Empire that the film would be the “conclusion of the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship.” So there’s that. We’re guessing Harry Hart won’t die, as they *SPOILER ALERT* already killed him and brought him back to life.

And as an interesting tidbit, it’s worth pointing out that between the time the last ‘Bond’ film “Spectre” was released and the upcoming ‘Bond 25’ will see its time in theaters, we would have had two separate “Kingsman” sequels. Something’s wrong with that picture, right? Especially considering “Kingsman 3” has now taken the ‘Bond 25’ November 8, 2019 release date.
