Robin Wright is in negotations to replace Rachel McAdams in Anton Corbijn's adaptation of John le Carré's novel "A Most Wanted Man." Quickly becoming one of our most anticipated projects of 2013 — Corbijn's "The American" being one of the vastly underrated pictures of 2010 — this political thriller centers on a Chechian Muslim who illegally immigrates to Hamburg and then gets caught up in the international war on terror.
Already on deck to star is Philip Seymour Hoffman (with "Inglourious Basterds" actor Daniel Brühl among those rumored to join down the line) in the film that is loosely based on the story of Turkish-German Guantanamo detainee Murat Kurnaz and follows a half-Chechen, half-Russian man who illegally immigrates to Hamburg and spins a web of intrigue that manages to involve a young British banker and a female lawyer.
Le Carre’s “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” was a hotly anticipated film in 2011 and several of his properties have been optioned of late including "The Night Manager" (which Brad Pitt's Plan B is developing) and "Our Kind of Traitor" (which "The Snowtown Murders" director Justin Kurzel is attempting to get off the ground). Wright's career has been somewhat sleepy in the past decade, but starting with the sorely underseen and undervalued "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" in 2009 (in which Wright put in a stellar performance), she's been taking on interesting work including roles in "Moneyball," "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and Oren Moverman's "Rampart."
