Shawn Levy Doesn't Deny 'Avengers 5' Talk & Teases Future Marvel Projects

We are just several days away from the big Hall H Marvel Studios presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. One of the films that folks are expected to learn about is “Avengers 5.” Ever since it went through a creative overhaul, which led to the departure of director Destin Daniel Cretton, fans have been wondering who is taking over. One of the names being mentioned is none other than “Deadpool & Wolverine” filmmaker Shawn Levy. And it doesn’t sound like Levy is fully denying it either.

Speaking to EW on the red carpet for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” filmmaker Shawn Levy was asked if he is destined to come back to Marvel Studios for “Avengers 5.” While he doesn’t deny the idea of working together with Marvel in the future, he definitely doesn’t confirm that it’ll be for “Avengers 5.”

“Well, I definitely read those reports too because I also have the internet, but I’ve read a lot of reports,” Levy teased. “What I’ll say is I’ve had my head down for a long time making this movie. It’s been an incredibly gratifying experience and it seems to be one that was equally gratifying for Marvel. So, without committing to any details, I won’t be surprised if Marvel and I aren’t done with each other.”

As mentioned, Levy’s name has been brought up for the ‘Avengers’ gig, but the most recent news has The Russo Brothers coming back to Marvel Studios to direct both “Avengers 5” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” And it really does seem as if that’s the direction the studio is going in. So, if Levy is teasing further projects with Marvel Studios, maybe it’ll be something else in a few years.

And it definitely might be a few years down the line.

In addition to his work on the final season of “Stranger Things,” which is keeping him busy for the foreseeable future, Levy is also developing a new “Star Wars” film with Lucasfilm, which seems to be a project he would want to get done after “Stranger Things” wraps. So, that means we’re probably looking at more Shawn levy Marvel stuff after ‘Secret Wars.’ Obviously, this speculation isn’t confirmed.

Regardless, you can watch Levy’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” in theaters on July 26.
