'Sibyl' Trailer: Filmmaker Justine Triet's Cannes Drama Stars Adèle Exarchopoulos & Virginie Efira

The competition for this year’s Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival is off the charts. New films from filmmakers Quentin Tarantino, Terrence Malick, Pedro Almodovar, Bong Joon-ho, and Ira Sachs are all competing, among many other names. But even though she might not have the same name recognition of the other filmmakers, director Justine Triet is set to premiere her latest film, “Sibyl,” which looks to be as strong of a contender as any.

And in anticipation of the mid-May start of Cannes, a new trailer for “Sibyl” has been released, showing us exactly what Triet has been working on since her 2016 film “In Bed with Victoria.” “Sibyl” tells the story of a psychologist, appropriately named Sibyl, that is inspired by her latest patient, a young actress Margot, to get back into the world of writing. However, that inspiration turns to obsession, as Sibyl is brought more and more into the rocky life of Margot.

“Sibyl” brings together Triet with her “In Bed with Victoria” star Virginie Efira, who was nominated for a Cesar Award nomination for her work in the latter film, while the ‘Victoria’ found itself with its own Cesar Award nomination for Best Film. Co-starring with Efira is French star Adèle Exarchopoulos, who is probably best known for winning the Palme d’Or and Trophée Chopard Award for Female Revelation of the Year at Cannes for her 2013 film, “Blue is the Warmest Color.”
