‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Taps ‘Severance’s Tramell Tillman For MCU Mystery Role

A beloved face from the eerie world of “Severance” just set foot in the Marvel universe: Tramell Tillman is officially joining “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” though what—or who—he’ll be playing remains under wraps.

Tillman’s screen footprint has been steadily expanding. Fresh off his Emmy-nominated turn as Seth Milchick in “Severance,” he recently appeared in “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” as Captain Bledsoe, the no-nonsense submarine commander who anchors Tom Cruise’s latest mission. That casting came courtesy of director Christopher McQuarrie, a self-professed “Severance” fan who sought Tillman out.

Marvel has yet to reveal Tillman’s role. Still, speculation is running hot: some believe he could embody Spencer Smythe, the brilliant inventor of the Spider-Slayers, while others suggest he may take on the menacing crime boss Tombstone. Social chatter has only fueled the fire, with posts teasing that Tillman will indeed step into villain territory.

He joins an already stacked ensemble led by Tom Holland as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, and more.

The creative backbone behind the film is equally impressive. Veteran duo Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers—who penned “Spider‑Man: Homecoming,”Far From Home,” and “No Way Home”—are reteaming to write the script. At the helm is Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously steered Marvel’s “Shang‑Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”; he directs this next chapter of Holland’s Peter Parker story.
