‘Spider Man 4’: Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk Joins Sony’s ‘Brand New Day,’ New Costume Revealed

Fresh off a new costume tease by Sony, new ‘Spider-Man 4’ casting has surfaced. Rumored for some time, Mark Ruffalo has officially joined Sony Pictures Marvel-produced “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” the fourth installment of the series due in the summer of 2026.

Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/The Hulk follows a tradition of pairing Spider-Man with more experienced Marvel Cinematic Universe characters to strengthen the Marvel/Sony movie ties—Iron Man in ”Spider-Man: Homecoming,” Nick Fury in “Far From Home,” and Doctor Strange in “No Way Home.”

He won’t be the only Marvel hero in the film, as Jon Bernthal is set to reprise his role as The Punisher in the movie.

That’s not the only resurfacing character, either: Michael Mando (“Better Call Saul”), who briefly appeared as the civilian version of the Scorpion villain character in “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” will return for this installment as well.

Directed by “Shang Chi: The Legend Of The Ten Rings” filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, the film was once again written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, the architects of the franchise’s four films.

Plot details have been totally under wraps, but the production is currently in Glasgow, Scotland, where they are making the city double for New York City.

Additional cast members include “Stranger Things” actress Sadie Sink in an undisclosed secret role, plus returning actors Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, who play Ned and MJ, respectively.

Though by the end of ‘No Way Home,’ the world’s memory of Peter Parker (Tom Holland) being Spider-Man’s secret identity was wiped from existence, so friends like Ned, MJ and more won’t even remember or know who Parker is, let alone continue to be his best friends.

There could be more to come and be revealed soon. Part of the very brief, very vague costume reveal today promised that “Something brand new is coming… whether that’s more casting or an official first look is unknown, but Spidey fans’ senses are tingling and hoping for something significant.

Update: The full costume was revealed today.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will release in theaters on July 31, 2026.
