There is still a lot more to come in 2013, but so far the prize for best poster goes to Steven Soderbergh's "Side Effects." The latest one sheet for the psychological thriller is a pretty solid little piece of work that gets the point across without resorting to putting a bunch of big heads in a pill bottle (or something equally obvious and terrible). No surprise then it comes from Neil Kellerhouse, the man behind memorable one sheets for "The Social Network," "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo," "Haywire," and many, many more.
Rooney Mara leads the movie, playing a young woman who turns to meds prescribed by her doctor (Jude Law), to deal with her rising anxiety as her husband (Channing Tatum) gets released from prison. From there, things get out of control, and as the tagline suggets, the desire to feel better may come with a price tag that's an even heavier burden. But perhaps the most revealing line on that poster is the one that you almost miss, hidden way down at the bottom: "A doctor's most important prescription is trust." Hmm….
"Side Effects" should be taken twice a day with water starting on February 8, 2013. [Huffington Post]
