Sylvester Stallone Shared A Peek At A 'Rocky' Prequel Series He's Pitching For A Streaming Service

Sylvester Stallone has never been one to shy away from the chance to expand one of his franchises. We’ve seen him do it recently with “Rambo” and the most obvious example is probably his “Rocky” franchise, which he spun off into the hugely successful “Creed” series. Now, it appears he wants to do another spinoff, bringing a younger Rocky Balboa to a streaming platform near you.

According to a couple of posts on Instagram, Stallone has recently begun pitching a “Rocky” prequel series that will dive deeper into the character’s early years. And he decided to share bits of it on social media.

“This may be the strangest posting yet,” said Stallone. “I started out this morning by writing a treatment for a ‘Rocky’ prequel For streaming. Ideally 10 episodes for a few seasons to really get to the heart of the Characters in there younger years – Here is a small portion of how my creative writing Process starts…Hope it happens – And then I needed to clear my head so I went fishing… Talk about extremes! Keep punching my friends.”

In another post, he shared a bit of a proposed script and wrote, “I KNOW my hand writing is very awkward. But so what it achieved the goal. But I decided to show a little bit more of the creative process for the ‘Rocky’ Prequel but this time it’s a lot more legible… Tell me what you think. I’m excited. MGM is excited. Hope you are too. KeepPunching.”

If you’ve followed the “Rocky” and subsequent “Creed” franchises, you know the story of Rocky Balboa has already come to an end. So, it makes sense that if Stallone wanted to explore the character more, he’d have to do a prequel series. And considering streaming platforms are throwing insane amounts of money to any project that is somehow related to an established IP, it’s not surprising Stallone could get this series greenlit somewhere.

The only question remains, where will the “Rocky” prequel series land and who will take over the role. Even though he looks great for his age, all the de-aging in the world can’t make Stallone a believable 20-something, right?
