‘The Offer’ Enlists Anthony Ippolito To Play Al Pacino In Series About The Making Of ‘The Godfather’

Paramount+ is gearing up for their new series about the making of Francis Ford Coppola‘s masterpiece, “The Godfather.” Now, Deadline has revealed that they’ve hired “Grand Army” actor Anthony Ippolito to play Al Pacino in the series, whom Francis chose to play Michael Corleone in “The Godfather.”

The Offer” is co-written by Nikki Toscano and Michael Toklin, with Toscano serving as the showrunner. Actor-turned-director Dexter Fletcher will be shooting multiple episodes, including the pilot.

“The Godfather” epic is widely considered to be one of the best crafted American-made films ever to put on the big screen. However, there was almost just as much drama and fighting behind the scenes just to get the film made the way Coppola wanted as there was in the work of fiction.  The making of the film is Hollywood legend, as the studio hated almost all of Coppola’s casting choices and threatened to pull the plug on multiple occasions before and during production, micromanaging the filmmaker at every turn.

Miles Teller (“Whiplash“) was recently chosen to play screenwriter/producer Al Ruddy, replacing Armie Hammer after his sexual assault allegations led him to exit most of his upcoming projects. Dan Folger plays Francis Ford Coppola and Patrick Gallo plays author Mario Puzo. The rest of the cast consists of Juno Temple, Mattew GoodeBurn GormanColin HanksJake CannavaleNora Arnezeder, and many more. 

Dexter Fletcher is behind flicks such as “Eddie The Eagle” and “Rocketman.” He’s also attached to the upcoming remake of “The Saint” starring Chris Pine (“Star Trek,” “Wonder Woman,” “Dungeons & Dragons“) as Simon Templar and was attached to helm “Sherlock Holmes 3” at one point.
