You can safely say, based on his output in “Rocketman” and the Oscar-winning film, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Dexter Fletcher is a filmmaker that understands how to craft a biopic. So, when the folks at Paramount+ were looking for a director for “The Offer,” based on the story of how “The Godfather” was made, Fletcher got the call.

According to THR, Dexter Fletcher has been hired to helm a block of episodes, including the premiere, for the upcoming Paramount+ series, “The Offer.” The series follows the creation of “The Godfather” from the perspective of producer Al Ruddy and his never-before-released experiences on the set of the film. We’ve known about this project for quite a while now, as it was originally announced with Armie Hammer on board to star. Of course, when controversy hit Hammer, he was dropped from the series. But now, the report claims “The Offer” is back on the fast track with a summer start date being eyed.
As mentioned, Fletcher is an actor-turned-filmmaker that is probably best known for his work on recent films “Rocketman” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The latter of which saw Fletcher take over the project from fired filmmaker Bryan Singer and craft a film that made damn near $1 billion at the box office, while also taking home multiple Oscars. Since then, Fletcher has been attached to a “Dracula” reimagining titled “Renfield,” as well as a big-budget remake of “The Saint” starring Chris Pine.
Fletcher will also serve as an executive producer on “The Offer,” helping with crafting the series and casting the actors. Joining Fletcher behind the scenes on the Paramount+ series are showrunner Nikki Toscano (“Hunters”), producer Leslie Greif (“Hatfields & McCoys”), and producer Dalia Ibelhauptaite, as well as Ruddy himself.
A release date has yet to be announced, though it’s safe to assume 2022 is when we’ll see “The Offer” grace the streaming service.
