So, is this Josh Trank‘s ultimate revenge on the blogosphere? In the run up to "Fantastic Four," the "Chronicle" director has occasionally popped up on Twitter to quash rumors about his still-secretive take on the superhero quartet. But has he channeled that frustration with fanboy blogs into shaping his villain? Well, someone will have to ask him, but either way, it would appear one of Doctor Doom’s superpowers is leaving scathing comments on messageboards.
Collider recently chatted with Toby Kebbell AKA the new Doctor Doom, and the actor revealed that the character is not quite how you remember him. "He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story. And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that," Kebbell said.
"The Doom in ours — I’m a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I’m ‘Doom,’ " he continued.
This is normally where we’d put our head in our hands, but we’ll give Trank the benefit of the doubt here. He thoroughly reimagined what a superhero movie could be with "Chronicle," and so maybe this Cheetos-eating loner coder approach for Doom has other shades to it and is not as one dimensional as it sounds. Or perhaps not. Either way, now we’re definitely curious what contemporary jobs the rest of the characters — Sue Storm, Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Johnny Storm — might have. Instagram consultant? E-commerce wizard? Artisanal marmalade mogul? We’ll find out on August 7, 2015. More from an IGN interview with Kebbell below.
