The world’s fashionistas are stoked on this trailer for “Valentino: The Last Emperor” hit the Internets. Hell it looks like even those who aren’t interested in fashion might appreciate this movie, a la the Wilco “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart” doc for non-music nerds. This doc follows Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani and his eponymous fashion line through the years, including: his relationship with business partner and companion of 50 years Giancarlo Giammetti, his ringing ’60s endorsement from Jackie Kennedy and the line’s struggles with the Italian conglomerate company they sold to in the late ’90s.
The trailer is 100% fabulous, from the opening strains of “Bette Davis Eyes” to Michael Caine saying “I’ve seen you in the papers!” to the ridiculous shot of Valentino flying his five pugs on a private jet to the bitchy things Valentino says to camera about Marzotto (the Fiat owning company he sold the Valentino brand to) executives.
The doc opens March 18 in selected cities.
