Vin Diesel Has The Final Scene Of The 'Fast' Saga In His Mind Already But He Can't Fully Articulate It Yet

Nine films later (10 if you count the ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ spinoff), it appears the ‘Fast & Furious’ Saga is entering its final quarter-mile stretch. And even though the film series is expected to end with a two-part finale, it appears that Vin Diesel, the godfather of all things fast and all things furious, already has the final scene in mind that will cap off the journey that began more than 20 years ago.

Speaking to Collider, Vin Diesel was asked about the two-part finale, which is being discussed as ‘Fast 10,’ even though it’s going to be two films, and whether or not he has planned the final scene for the final film. And though it appears the actor has the scene playing in his head, he’s not able to really articulate what it looks like.

“I have a scene that’s recurring [in my mind] and has been for years now of what I always imagined what the finale of the finale would be. And Justin [Lin] and I have talked to great lengths and worked towards that,” Diesel explained. “So much of [‘F9’] is getting prepped and ready for the two-part finale of the saga. Could I articulate it now or would I articulate it? I might not be able to do that, but what’s unique about this release is that we had to push the release a year. And we pushed into our preproduction of that two-part ‘Fast’ finale. So, every day, I’m coming to talk about ‘Fast 9’ and going home to work on ‘Fast 10.’”

He added, “It’s bizarre talking about the finale of something. Maybe I didn’t anticipate how emotional people would get…”

While it would be easy to make a joke about how the finale will be ludicrous and somehow involve time-traveling aliens and the multiverse, as the franchise really doesn’t have anywhere else it can head towards, you have to imagine the very sensitive and emotional Diesel has something more intimate in mind. Remember, “Fast & Furious” might be a franchise built on fast cars and explosions, but it’s really about family.

With that in mind, if Mr. Diesel is interested, I’d like to pitch my finale. (Full disclosure, I haven’t seen any of the films past ‘Fast 5’ and really only glean my ‘Fast’ knowledge from the trailers.) I think it would be fitting for the series to end with a scene that finds Vin Diesel’s Dom having to outfit his Charger with a multiversal NOS booster that allows him to break the fabric of the multiverse, and he uses it to collect various Doms and Brians (played by CGI Paul Walker) from various universes to come back to the present to fight whatever A-lister they bring in to be the big villain. (Let’s shoot for the moon and say Christian Bale.) It would be like an “Avengers: Endgame”-style moment with an army of Dominic Torettos and Brian O’Connors behind him in their suped-up Supras and Civics. Sounds ridiculous enough, right?

We’ll have to see how the finale is set up in the new film, “F9,” when it debuts in theaters on June 25.
