Watch: Final Trailer For 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' Spins A Web For The Sequel

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

While you might still be miffed that “The Amazing Spider-Man” told the origin story you already knew, director Marc Webb admits to Rolling Stone he actually turned down a script for the first movie that ditched it altogether. “It was different. It still had the Lizard in it, but it was a script that jumped ahead in time and relied on knowledge of the comic books that I don’t think everyone had,” he explained to the magazine. “Tonally, it was a little more tongue-in-cheek and glib, and I didn’t feel the emotional connection. I just didn’t know how else to develop that bond than with an origin story. I feel like it pays off in this movie, because now Andrew Garfield embodies Peter Parker.”

And that payoff is something Sony is expecting to be huge. With roughly six weeks to go until it spins a web in theaters, the studio continues the pummeling marketing campaign for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” with yet another trailer to show off all the goodies Webb and co are bringing this time around. And that means three different villains (even if Rhino’s appearance doesn’t even crack five minutes), big stakes (the showdown in Times Square has been teased relentlessly) and of course family secrets spilling out for Peter Parker.

Is this the Spidey movie you wanted the first time around? Let us know below. “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” opens on May 2nd. Trailer and new TV spot below.
