Watch: New International Trailer For Mia Hansen-Løve’s DJ World Drama ‘Eden’ With Greta Gerwig & Brady Corbet

EdenWhile no one really drops the needle these days, except for diehard vinyl enthusiasts, there was a time when riding the faders and flipping wax was part of a major movement. In France, during the heady days of the ’90s, the French Touch scene was in full swing, and "Eden," the latest from "Goodbye, First Love" director Mia Hansen-Løve, takes audiences back to that magical time. But as the filmmaker told us in a recent interview, it’s not for nostalgia’s sake.

"[Hansen-Løve’s bother, co-writer, and former DJ] Sven and I agreed that it would be much more interesting to show these clubs from a more realistic and distanced point of view," the filmmaker explained. "I’m just as interested in the poetry of these places as everyone else, but I just think that true realism is the best way to reveal it. I think it’s the best way to reach some sort of infinity, you know?" And it’s hard to argue that "Eden" doesn’t feel authentic.

Starring Félix de Givry, Pauline Etienne, and Vincent Macaigne, with appearances by Brady Corbet, Laura Smet, and Greta Gerwig, the film follows Paul, who forms a DJ collective while his pals pull together a little band called Daft Punk. Through their eyes we dip into the French Touch scene, which brings everyone a mix of high and lows amidst swirling lights and unending beats.

A new French trailer for the movie has landed, and while there are no subtitles, it presents a pretty good vibe of the movie. "Eden" opens in France on November 19th and lands stateside next spring. Read our review,  listen to all of the music in the film, and watch below. [Les Inrocks]
