It’s always fun to watch a relationship between an actor and filmmaker develop. Perhaps the most famous recent example is between Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese. But now, we have to add Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos to that discussion. Not only did they score huge acclaim (and awards) with their collaboration on “The Favourite,” the duo have reteamed with a film that is already earning more Oscar buzz, “Poor Things.” And while we know they’re working together on a new film titled “AND,” it would appear that Stone and Lanthimos have a mystery film that was already filmed.
According to an interview with Cineuropa, not only are Yorgos Lanthimos about to release “Poor Things” later this year, the duo have already filmed an entirely new feature in secret. Not much is known about the new film, which is currently untitled, but the filmmaker did share a couple of details.
While he didn’t spill the beans much about the film, Lanthimos did tease that the mystery film was filmed in Greece and is “much simpler and very different in comparison to ‘Poor Things’ because that story needed that particular style.” Not only that, cinematographer Robbie Ryan, who has worked with Lanthimos on a few other projects including “Poor Things,” “The Favourite,” and the forthcoming “AND,” is back as the DP for the mystery film.

Obviously, considering the recent output from Lanthimos, the idea of him teaming up with Stone on more projects is incredibly exciting. So far, the duo have yet to disappoint.
As for the release date for the untitled film, that is still unknown. That said, if it has already filmed, you have to assume it’s coming sooner rather than later. We’ll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, you can see “Poor Things” when it arrives in theaters on December 8.
