AMC Renews 'Preacher' For Season 2

I have to admit, at first I didn’t think “Preacher” would be my cup of tea. On paper, the mix of offbeat characters and an even wilder premise just wasn’t the sort of the thing that I usually dive into, but the buzz was undeniable. And after multiple Playlisters vouched for the pilot, I gave it a whirl myself (thanks to AMC dropping it on YouTube, well played) and jumped on the bandwagon. And it’s good to know the network is also pleased with how things have turned out.

AMC has renewed “Preacher” for a second season, that will run thirteen episodes, expanding on the ten episodes of season one. And there won’t be any delay in bringing Dominic Cooper, Tom Brooke, Anatol Yusef, Ruth Negga, and Joseph Gilgun back to the small screen, with the second season slated to premiere in 2017. Of course, where the story will go next we’ll just have to wait and see as the first season is yet to wrap up, but it’s good to know there will be a lot more coming.

If you’re not on the “Preacher” train yet, now’s the time to jump on. The show airs on AMC on Sunday nights. [Variety]
