Coen Brothers Team With Netflix For 'Ballad Of Buster Scruggs'

While is Netflix is preparing to lose Disney titles from their service, they’re not worried in the slightest. Paying to license that content costs money, and it has always been the streaming service’s longtime goal to build their own library of titles, with the hopes of making at least half of everything they offer their customers homegrown. The process involves spending billions of dollars, and lining up big name talent, and once again, they’ve lured some of the biggest names in town.

Netflix has scooped up the rights to the Coen Brothers’ next feature, “The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs.” Produced by Annapurna Television, the Western anthology will feature six tales about the American frontier told through the unique and incomparable voice of Joel and Ethan Coen. Each chapter will feature a distinct story about the American West. The project will star Tim Blake Nelson in the lead role, with James Franco, Stephen RootRalph Ineson, Zoe Kazan, and Tyne Daly.

“We are streaming motherfuckers!,” Joel Coen and Ethan Coen said in the best statement ever.

“The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs” is now in production and will hit Netflix in 2018.
