From the latest installment in the “Monster” anthology series to investigative thrillers and survival games, there’s plenty available to stream that will appeal to fans who immerse themselves in the minds of killers.

Elsewhere, there’s a miscellaneous grab bag assortment of series, both returning and new. From Netflix thrillers to a new comedy from Tim Robinson and the latest entry in the “Star Wars” franchise, the lack of consistency means a more eclectic list to choose from. No matter your mood, there’s something worth checking out. While film might be the more robust medium this month, truly gluttunous with its output, television remains consistent with its strong divide between drama and comedy, maintaining our interest.
“Monster: The Ed Gein Story”
Charlie Hunnam stars as serial killer and body snatcher Ed Gein in the latest true-crime Netflix entry from producer Ryan Murphy and creator Ian Brennan. “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” follows Gein, who, despite his harmless public persona in the 1950s, is committing horrific crimes that shock the nation. Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander, and Olivia Williams also star as notable figures in Gein’s life and surrounding the story.
Release Date: The anthology series premieres on October 3 on Netflix.
“The Last Frontier”
Jason Clarke stars in the latest thriller series for Apple TV+ in “The Last Frontier.” Clarke stars as a U.S. Marshall living on the outskirts of Alaska who must protect his town once a plane crashes and sets free multiple fugitives. Created by Jon Bokenkamp (“The Blacklist”) and Richard D’Ovidio, the series stars Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, and more.

“The Chair Company”
Tim Robinson brings his specific brand of off-kilter and high-octane comedy to the latest HBO series, “The Chair Company.” Created by Robinson and Zach Kanin, the eight-episode series follows a man who is investigating a conspiracy after an embarrassing workplace incident. The ensemble cast includes Lake Bell, Sophia Lillis, Will Price, Joseph Tudisco, and Lou Diamon Phillips.
Release Date: Season 1 premieres October 12 on HBO.
“Loot”
Maya Rudolph returns as billionaire Molly Wells for the third season of the comedy series “Loot.” Created by Matt Hubbard and Alan Yang, season three finds Molly and her charity, The Wells Foundation, trying to live up to her promise of giving away her fortune. Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Nat Faxon, Ron Funches, and Joel Kim Booster all return alongside guest stars including Adam Scott, Henry Winkler, and more.
