Exclusive: Clip From WFMU Documentary ‘Sex And Broadcasting’ Hurts A Little

Sex And BroadcastingIn a time when music subscriptions keep popping up, where programming is streamed through corporate-owned services, and it seems like it’s impossible to get a unique, distinct, independent voice, WFMU has you covered. The New Jersey-based station takes central focus in the upcoming documentary "Sex And Broadcasting," and today we have an exclusive clip from the film.

Directed by Tim K. Smith, the documentary profiles the commercial-free, listener-supported WMFU and the personalities that bring the shows to life and keep the station, which has been running since the 1950s, going. But when a budget crisis arises, station manager Ken Freedman will have to do everything he can to save WFMU and keep it financially viable. If you didn’t even know this station existed, the scene below gives a pretty great idea of exactly the kind of audience WFMU has cultivated over the years.

"Sex And Broadcasting" is now screening at DOC NYC. Watch below.
