‘Boys From County Hell’ Trailer: Drunk Friends Foolishly Wake Up An Irish Vampire In This Shudder Film

Sometimes you have to wonder what the hell characters in horror films are thinking when they do something stupid? Of course, for the guys in “Boys from County Hell,” you could probably blame alcohol and the close proximity of heavy construction machinery for why they decided to wake up a vampire.

As seen in the trailer for “Boys from County Hell,” the film tells the story of, well, a group of guys from a small Irish town that is said to be visited by Bram Stoker, with an urban legend about a monster that might have inspired “Dracula.” So, as you do in films like this, the guys decide to go to the ancient burial ground that is supposedly home to the monster and disturb it to see if the legends are true. And wouldn’t you know? They’re pretty fucking true.

The film stars Jack Rowan (“Peaky Blinders”), Nigel O’Neill (“The Bookshop”), Louisa Harland (“Derry Girls”), Fra Fee (“Animals,” “Hawkeye”), John Lynch (“The Terror,” “The Banishing“), and Michael Hough (“Chapelwaite”). “Boys from County Hell” is written and directed by Chris Baugh, who is probably best known for his feature, “Bad Day for the Cut.” This film is based on the filmmaker’s short film of the same name.

“Boys from County Hell” is set to arrive on Shudder on April 22. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Strange events unfold in Six Mile Hill – a sleepy Irish town that claims to have been traveled by the famed author Bram Stoker – when construction on a new road disrupts the alleged grave of Abhartach, a legendary Irish vampire said to have inspired Dracula. Deadly and sinister forces terrorize the work crew led by Francie Moffat and his son Eugene, a free-spirited young man who prefers pints to pickaxes, and they’re forced to fight to survive the night while exposing the true horror that resides in the town’s local myth.
