Olivia Wilde Set To Join Daniel Craig In Jon Favreau's 'Cowboys & Aliens'

Olivia Wilde is set to join Daniel Craig in Dreamworks’ upcoming sci-fi-western “Cowboys & Aliens” to be helmed by Jon Favreau.

Despite being a well known actress, Wilde’s career has thus far only seen her notably in “Year One,” TV”s “House,” “Tron: Legacy” and Paul Haggis’ upcoming “The Next Three Days.” It doesn’t take a genius to see that she has the looks but does she have the acting chops to boot? After mainly big screen supporting roles, this could prove to be her biggest challenge – the biggest of which might just be taking this plot seriously.

Wilde is set to play a character named Ella who joins up with Craig’s mysterious gunslinger, Zeke Jackson, in an unlikely banding of natives and settlers against an alien invasion. Robert Downey Jr. was originally set to play the protagonist before he left to do “Sherlock Holmes 2” and was replaced by Craig.

The project boasts a big name producing team of Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Scott Mitchell Rosenberg with a script by J.J. Abrams stable writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof. A summer 2011 release looks likely.
