As Warner Bros. reels from “Suicide Squad,” they can at least take some satisfaction that their movie wasn’t quite as disastrous as 20th Century Fox‘s flop last August, “Fantastic Four.” Not only was it critically body slammed, but it tanked at the box office too, and the tales of the behind-the-scenes woes on that movie were much, much uglier. The fallout was swift, with the studio cancelling the planned release date for the film, director Josh Trank losing his “Star Wars” spinoff gig, and while producer Simon Kinberg admitted fault, he’s also been eager to have an opportunity to make it right. And he can count on at least one cast member coming back, if they decide to give it another whirl.

Miles Teller aka Reed Richards recently chatted with JoBlo, and said he’d be cool with coming back to make another “Fantastic Four” film.
“Yeah, for sure. I loved the cast, I loved the characters. I think it’s such an interesting dynamic. I love how much they really need to rely on each other,” he told the site. “This Avengers thing, they’ve kind of created their own Fantastic Four in a way, Marvel‘s first family. Their powers can’t just exist on their own, you need Thor to do this, the Hulk to do his thing. So yeah, absolutely, I would do another one.”
If it seems somewhat surprising that Teller would want to be involved given how badly the first movie was received, he thinks the thrashing “Fantastic Four” received was a bit unfair.

You work harder on the bad films, or the films that turn out maybe not the way you intended, because something’s not working. And I thought it was kind of unjustly critiqued that way; there are even bigger bombs if you’re looking at how much money went into the production and what they reaped back,” Teller said this spring. “But I think it’s unfortunate a movie like that becomes a scarlet letter on a resume when so many talented people worked really hard and maybe a handful of people took it in a negative direction. But so many people worked really hard on that that are so talented.”
This will all be good news to Kinberg’s ears, who has previously said “Fantastic Four” is still an important property for 20th Century Fox (so don’t expect Marvel to scoop it up).
