This is painful. No, there’s nothing wrong with “The Power of the Dog’s” Kodi Smit-McPhee and “Belfast’s” Jamie Dornan and Ciaran Hinds being recognized with a Best Supporting Actor nomination for their performances. And, if it happens, “CODA’s” Tony Kotsur would be an inspired choice. But my lord, the idea that Jared Leto will earn a nomination for that “SNL” caricature in “House of Gucci” is embarrassing. Especially when there are so many other great performances not getting the love they deserve.

“Licorice Pizza‘s” Bradley Cooper playing the notorious movie producer Jon Peters. Richard Jenkins’ compassionate work in “The Humans.” Colman Domingo‘s unforgettable tour de force in “Zola.” Anders Danielsen Lie in “The Worst Person in the World.” Even Alfred Molina is more deserving for his role in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” than Leto is.
