As seen in the teaser for “Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You,” the film documents the recording session between the title musician and his E Street Band, as they record live together for the first time in 35 years. And as you might expect, the relationship between Springsteen and the band is filled with plenty of love and friendship, as well as the occasional clash. It is rock and roll after all. You can’t expect a rock doc without a little bit of drama, right?

The album that is being recorded over the course of the film marks the 20th from Springsteen and the first to feature the artist collaborating with The E Street Band since 2014’s “High Hopes.” ‘Letter to You’ was filmed by director Thom Zimny over the recording sessions that began in November 2019 and lasted less than a week. The album is meant to be a true live recording with no overdubs.
