Cam’ron Claims He Was Originally Supposed To Star In ‘Uncut Gems’ With Jonah Hill

Ben and Josh Safdie’s critically-beloved speeding train of chaos and mayhem, “Uncut Gems” features many unexpected but memorable guest performances ranging from Kevin Garnett and The Weeknd to Tilda Swinton providing a voice-over cameo, but audiences apparently missed out on another guest performer. Rapper Cam’ron claims he was supposed to star in the film alongside Jonah Hill.

Complex recently posted an interview with Manhattan Diamond District jewelers Izzy and Joseph Aranbayev, who were jewelry consultants in the film and helped Adam Sandler get into the character by letting him shadow Izzy for 2 months, as well as provide him jewelry to hear. According to Izzy, Cam facilitated a meeting between them and the Safdie brothers, who supposedly offered them a minor role in the film.

Cam’ron then took to Instagram to not only confirm their story, but add a claim that the Safdie brothers used him for his connection to the jewelers, and then shut him out of the film. “[Josh Safdie] used me to get to you and the family,” the rapper stated. “Then tried to give me a sucker ass role.” Not only that, but he claims that he was supposed to act in a role opposite Jonah Hill before Adam Sandler got on board “then didn’t give me a thank you in the credits.”

It is unclear as to what this “sucker ass role” was or how big of a part it was meant to be. But his second statement presents a different scenario, one where he was meant to star alongside Jonah Hill. The role could be anything from Howard’s associate, who was ultimately played by Lakeith Stanfield, to something more like Kevin Garnett’s role in the film.
