Colin Farrell, Tye Sheridan, Lily-Rose Depp & More Join Neil Burger's Space Thriller 'Voyagers'

Director Neil Burger has already surprised many film fans in 2019 with his latest project, “The Upside.” The Kevin Hart/Bryan Cranston comedy film was a bit of a departure for the filmmaker, who is probably best known for films like “Limitless” and “Divergent,” as well as the TV series “Billions.” But yet, “The Upside” became a massive hit, earning more than $108 million at the domestic box office.

According to Deadline, for his next film, Burger is going back to his action-thriller roots with the film “Voyagers,” and he’s lined up a pretty great cast, including the Golden Globe-winning Colin Farrell. The film is said to be about a group of 30 young people that are sent on a mission to populate a new planet. Along the way, the captain in charge of the mission dies, leading the young people to become fractured and contentious with each other. “Voyagers” is described as “‘Lord of the Flies’ in space.”

Joining Farrell in the cast are Tye Sheridan (“X-Men: Apocalypse”), Lily-Rose Depp (“The King”), Fionn Whitehead (“Dunkirk”), and Keean Johnson (“Alita: Battle Angel”). And already lining up to join this cast are actors like Kelvin Harrison (“Mudbound”), Isaac Hempstead Wright (“Game Of Thrones”), Chanté Adams (“Roxanne Roxanne”) and Madison Hu (“Bizaardvark”).

Obviously, the standout names in the young cast are Sheridan, who is best known for his work in “Ready Player One” and the not-so-great ‘X-Men’ films, Depp (yes, the daughter of Johnny), Whitehead, and Hempstead Wright, who is now always going to be Creepy Bran from ‘Thrones.’

There’s no release date set for the film, but production is said to get underway in June in Romania.
